Langley Flippers Programming Options
The Langley Flippers Summer Season from the beginning of May to mid-August, ending with the BCSSA Provincial Championships. We start the season May 1, 2024 with dryland training and a couple practices at Walnut Grove Community Center. Assessment practices/group placements will be held April 28, 2024 and May 30, 2024. Regular in pool practices begin May 10, 2024 at Al Anderson Memorial Pool. We will be competing in swim meets with other BCSSA clubs in the Fraser Valley Region. We will end our regular competition season with Regionals and a Provincial Championship Swim Meet. This year Provincials will be held at UBC, August 16 - 28, 2024.

Competitive Summer Season
Registration for Summer 2024 will open on March 11, 2024 on Active (link available on main page). All swimmers must meet the requirement of swimming a minimum of 50m continuously and unassisted in a minimum of freestyle and backstroke. At any time during the first week of practice, if your child does not appear to meet the requirements, at the coaches discretion, a full refund will be given minus the insurance/registration fee of $40. Little Flippers
The Little Flippers Program: Focusing on Development and Growth
The purpose of the Little Flippers Development Program is for swimmers ages 5-12 who are just being introduced to the 4 strokes (particularly freestyle and backstroke) and who are working towards swimming one length independently. These groups will have a coach and a volunteer in the water with them to support them as they learn. The young swimmers are placed in very small swimmer/coach ratio groups based on their abilities. The minimum requirement for this group is the ability to swim 25m unassisted. (Completion or the equivalent of Swimmer 3 is recommended)

Swim Groups for the 2024 Season
Flippers Speed Swimming/Competitive Program
Flippers Speed Swimming is open to all ages and skill levels. Those who can swim at least 50m continuously and unassisted in freestyle and backstroke are welcome to join. Juniors, typically 7-12 years old, will focus on learning the four main racing strokes. Intermediates, usually 9-14 years old, will work on improving their technique and speed in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Seniors, usually 12 years old and above, will have advanced technical ability and endurance in all four strokes. Please note that all swim group placements are at the discretion of the head coach and may not necessarily fall into the above age categories.
Introduction to Competitive Swimming Program
Intro to Competitive Swimming: ages 7 - 18 who can swim a minimum of 25m freestyle or backstroke unassisted. This group swims 1 time/ week. The focus of this group is to introduce athletes to the sport of competitive swimming, while improving their technique and increasing their endurance. This program is perfect for older swimmers wanting to improve their endurance for their lifeguarding timed swims or those who aren't ready to commit to a full summer but want to give competitive swimming a try.
Masters Program
Masters Program For those wanting to increase their swimming fitness. Individual coaching may not be available and prewritten workouts may be used. A good level of basic fitness and knowledge of all 4 strokes recommended for registration in this program. *Schedules will become available closer to the start of our summer season.
Cancellation Policy
Summer: If the coach decides that your child does not meet minimum requirements, you will receive a full refund minus the insurance/registration fee of $40. There will be no prorating of fees for missed practices or late registration. If your child must withdraw due to medical reasons, a medical note must be provided. Medical refund schedule will be 75% (excluding insurance/registration fee) if withdrawn by end of May 2024, 50% (excluding insurance/registration fee) if withrawn by end of June 2024, 25% (excluding insurance/registration fee) if withrawn by July 9. No refund will be given after July 9, 2024.
